James and his daughter found themselves walking the streets, uncertain of their next move, when they decided to visit New Life Church. One morning, they met a case worker at our food pantry who informed them about the New Life Community Alliance (NLCA) warming station. Initially, pride held James back from seeking help, but for his daughter, he decided to give it a try.
James was on the brink of losing hope. However, after discovering New Life’s resources, he decided to give New Life a shot. In March 2024, he and his daughter began their stay in the Warming Station. James was connected with a case manager who guided him through a personal success plan to lift him and his daughter from homelessness. He attended the NLCA Job Fair that led to him securing employment with the City of Decatur.
Today, James is working a full-time position with benefits and he moved into his new apartment in early July. Adding to the joy, his daughter finished her school year on the honor roll!
