Carmela Pattillo’s journey with New Life Community Alliance (NLCA) is driven by her deep passion for helping others reach their fullest potential. As the case manager for Career Services, she plays a key role in guiding individuals toward stable employment and personal growth, offering not just job placements, but a renewed sense of purpose and direction.

Carmela oversees vital programs like Jobs Jubilee, which connects people to employment opportunities. She also collaborates with other NLCA services, such as Garments of Grace—NLCA’s free clothing store that provides professional attire for job seekers—and the food pantry, ensuring that clients are supported on multiple levels.

For many, the combination of having the right outfit for an interview or knowing their food needs are met can provide the confidence and peace of mind necessary to succeed. Carmela explains, “Career Services is more than just finding a job for people. Sometimes people need a career path, and we can put them on a plan.” Her work offers much more than matching individuals with jobs. It’s about providing hope, clarity, and a path forward.

Yet, the work is not without its challenges. Carmela recognizes the need in the community and the limitations of resources. “There are so many people we could be helping. The need is immense, and sometimes it keeps me up at night,” she reflects. But this sense of responsibility fuels her drive to do more. Her vision is to expand the Career Services program, helping many individuals receive the support they need to build better futures.

Through her efforts, countless people have found not just employment, but hope. “I love watching people realize their potential and take steps toward something they never thought was possible,” she says. “This is such a fulfilling type of work.”

Carmela’s dedication to empowering others makes her an invaluable part of NLCA, and her impact will continue to ripple through the lives of those she helps each day.
