When Harry and Mika Jackson first came to New Life Community Alliance (NLCA), they were facing what felt like an impossible situation. As parents of 11 children, they were doing everything in their power to keep their family afloat, but after months of mounting challenges, they were just one day away from eviction. With more than $12,000 in debt, ongoing health issues, unemployment, and the ripple effects of a tragic accident, the Jacksons were on the brink of losing everything.
Through it all, they remained focused on what mattered most: protecting their family’s future and ensuring their children could stay in school and keep moving forward.
Determined to regain stability, Harry and Mika turned to NLCA for support. Through our Case Management team and Prayer Ministry, they found not just resources – but a community that stood beside them with encouragement, guidance, and hope.
With NLCA’s help, the Jacksons received:
- Rental and utility assistance to keep a roof over their heads and the lights on
- A furniture referral to make their home livable and comfortable
- Help with resume building and job searching to regain financial independence
- A referral to our Spring GED cohort, giving Mika the opportunity to pursue her education and open new doors for her family’s future
These aren’t just services – they’re stepping stones. And for the Jackson family, each one brought them closer to stability, dignity, and a fresh start.
At NLCA, we believe in walking alongside families through their most difficult moments. We understand that no one is defined by their hardships – and that with the right support, people can rise above even the most overwhelming obstacles.
The Jacksons’ journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community shows up. It’s a story of resilience, faith, and the real impact of compassion in action.
