A Partnership for Growing Families: HOPE Center & NLCA

Starting over with a new baby can feel overwhelming, especially when you don’t have the essentials you need.

In July 2026, an expectant mother came to the South DeKalb Day Center at New Life, preparing to welcome a baby girl. With two older children, ages 19 and 10, it had been years since she had cared for a newborn. She was excited about this new chapter, but she was also anxious. Without baby supplies, she wasn’t sure how she would have everything she needed before her daughter arrived.

Then, she noticed a sign-up sheet at New Life Community Alliance (NLCA) for the HOPE Center’s Atlanta Parenting Program. That simple moment connected her to a new source of support.

Through a partnership between NLCA and the HOPE Center, she began meeting weekly with the HOPE Center’s Atlanta Services Coordinator right at NLCA. During those sessions, she learned more about what to expect during labor and delivery, along with practical parenting guidance. With each meeting, she felt more confident about the months ahead.

The support didn’t stop there. Together, NLCA and the HOPE Center helped make sure she had essential supplies waiting for her baby, including diapers, wipes, clothing, and a pack n’ play for a safe place to sleep.

At the end of August, she welcomed her baby girl.

She entered this new chapter with more than supplies. She had helpful information, encouragement, and a community of support as her family grew.

Stories like hers show what’s possible when community organizations work together. By connecting families with the right resources at the right time, partnerships like the one between NLCA and the HOPE Center can turn an overwhelming moment into one filled with greater stability and hope.

When organizations come together around a shared purpose, families are better equipped with the support they need when they need it most.
