What if we told you that where you spend your money could become an act of faith, justice, and community empowerment? This September, New Life Community Alliance (NLCA) invites you to be part of something transformative — a movement to circulate the Black dollar. This bold initiative kicks off with the first Business Learning Session & Business Expo on September 26th and 27th. And this is not your average event!

The Black dollar typically leaves the community within six hours. That short economic cycle contributes to broader disparities in housing, education, healthcare, and generational wealth. But when we support Black-owned businesses, we’re also strengthening Black families, neighborhoods, and futures.

This two-day experience will feature an outdoor business showcase with local Black-owned vendors, food trucks, live music, spoken word, cultural performances, and a family-friendly atmosphere. Attendees can explore a “Support Black Business” education tent, engage directly with entrepreneurs and resource providers, and walk away with the first edition of the South DeKalb Minority-Owned Business Directory. Whether you’re a small business owner or simply a community-minded neighbor, this is a chance to meet, connect, and collaborate.

Circling the Black Dollar isn’t a one-time event — it’s the launch of a movement. This initiative focuses on long-term strategies for economic stability, systemic change, and empowerment. This is more than charity. It’s capacity-building. It’s economic dignity. And it’s rooted in the belief that South DeKalb deserves investment, opportunity, and a future where equity thrives.

So the question is simple: will you be part of the movement? Join us in creating an ecosystem of support where faith meets finance and community power grows — one dollar at a time.
