Big news is heating up at New Life Community Alliance – and it starts in the kitchen. Thanks to a generous $500,000 grant from Chick-fil-A, Inc., NLCA is launching a brand-new, state-of-the-art kitchen to serve our South DeKalb neighbors. This investment will more than double the Alliance’s current meal capacity, allowing weekly meal production from 300-400 meals to more than 800.

In a moment when food insecurity is growing, especially after recent cuts to SNAP benefits due to the government shutdown, this support couldn’t have come at a better time. Across South DeKalb, more families are struggling to put food on the table. This new kitchen ensures that we’ll be ready to meet those needs with warmth, dignity, and a hot meal.

One of the most powerful ways the Alliance serves the community is through food. Our kitchen isn’t just a place to cook. It’s where dignity is restored, hunger meets hope, and community is built. Each week, 25 dedicated volunteers come together to prepare meals for our South DeKalb neighbors.

We’re also proud to share that the new kitchen has been officially dedicated in memory of Ms. Joanne Moses, a beloved volunteer whose heart to feed those in need shaped NLCA in powerful ways. Her legacy now lives on in every meal we serve and in the welcoming spirit that fills the space that bears her name.

The new kitchen will be in full operation just in time for Thanksgiving. There’s no better way to honor Ms. Moses’ legacy by serving more neighbors with a warm meal and a full heart.
