The morning was filled with excitement and pride as the New Life gym turned into a celebration hall. This wasn’t a game day – it was graduation day. Family, friends, and community partners came together to cheer on 14 spectacular people who demonstrated relentless determination: the graduates of NLCA’s GED Path Program. Each person who walked across the stage embodied resilience, drive, and a commitment to a better tomorrow.

Preparation. Achievement. Training. Hope for a New Life. These are the hallmarks of NLCA’s GED Program. Over 12 weeks, students studied subjects like English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Math. At the conclusion of the program, each student completed exams in the content areas. And they did just that, earning them a high school equivalency diploma and marked a major step forward in their lives.

Many students started the program unsure if they could finish. But with the help of caring teachers, structured classes, and meals provided by NLCA, they began to believe in themselves. One graduate, Sallu Jalloh, shared that “[The meals] offered not only nourishment but also motivation and a sense of community – reminding us that we were doing something meaningful and important for our future.”

The GED program had a profound impact on the Class of 2025, affirming them academically, personally, and spiritually. “The program has built our confidence, discipline, and belief in what we can achieve through hard work and faith,” said Sallu.

As the graduates looked back on their time in the GED Program, one theme echoed among them: gratitude. They were thankful to NLCA for creating a space where learning and faith go hand in hand. Their success is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late for a fresh start.
